Daybook Defense

I have chosen 5 excerpts from my day book that defines me as a writer, and my engagement with the class.
The first excerpt is where did a writing prompt to write down whatever comes to mind at the moment. What I wrote was a poem about poets and the passion of being a poet, this describes me as a writer because I write poems, writing poetry is a hobby. Another assignment we did engaged the whole class I thought the assignment really got us out of our shy mood, and got us a chance to read whats on others mind. As student I enjoy engaging with others, and interacting with group members, I don’t like awkward silences or shyness.

The writing prompt where we had to state our strengths and weaknesse<s as a writer I stated that as a writer I have problems with grammar, punctuation, and run-on's. This gives me a chance to actually think about what are my weak points and what are my strong points.

As a student If I don’t understand something I can easily lose focus so if I don’t understand what the writing prompt is asking me my paper will be everywhere, this is seen through the writing prompt where we had to figure out what a quote meant to use but honestly I didn’t understand its meaning. And of course not to forget another one of my favorite prompts in class was when we responded to “What do we think your teachers expect when writing an essay” again this discribes me as a student because when I am being told to write an essay, I always plan out how I am going to write it, I brainstorm ideas and when I do this this kinda helps my essays become organized and also it helps me be able to conclude details. Sometimes there are times when I have a hard time acctually putting my essay down on paper because again, I define myself as a poet, and I’m so used to using slang and being unformal that I often forget that I an writing an essay.

And lastly I think this prompt helps define who I am as a poet, in this prompt we had to write about what is our intended audience when we write and our purpose for writing. When I write poems I want people to grab a certain mood based off the details I may provide through out the poem. Most of the time I just want people to unnderstand where I coming from wethere its about love, or even poloticts. Through the poetry genre I believe it gets it point across better then any other type of genre because of the details you are able to use, and how you are able to use them with literay devices.
